The Intricacies of Hair Styling
Most of the time, when we have a haircut – it’s an opportunity to sit back and relax, whilst we enjoy being individually pampered by a professional. It makes a nice change from having to style our own hair – often in vain – each morning.
Ask any hairdresser, and they will no doubt tell you that cutting hair is not an easy task. With so many considerations which need to be made, so many details which need to be taken note of, and so many different possibilities when it comes to the outcomes of a hair styling session – things can get pretty tough.
To help understand some of these considerations which go in to the finished hair product – this article will guide you through and inform you of just how intricate hairdressers are in their work.
Length, Cut
By now, you may have reached the conclusion that cutting hair is not as simple as hacking off the end of each strand with a pair of scissors. There is far more to the process than that.
On of the first conversations a hairdresser will have with you is the consultation. This is where you are able to give specific advice on what you are looking to get out of the haircut.
Length is very important. Long hair or short hair – the differences are immediate and obvious. You can always tell whether someone has long or short hair, even there is no defining measurement as to which is which – or where the cut off point for one category is relative to the other.
For most people, a simple trim or haircut will involve removing the excess growth from the last month or so – which could be the better part of 1 to 3 inches. This obviously depends on how fast your hair grows, and how well you look after it.
The Width
The width of someone’s hair is also a consideration for hairdressers. If you have very thick hair, it will mean that your hairstyles will be prone to “heaviness” – which could cause unwanted effects such as drooping, flattening, and so on.
On the other hand, very thin hair could be equally as difficult to maintain, as there will be less to play around with.
As you can see, styling ones hair takes more than just a whim of enthusiasm. Keep this in mind next time you choose a hairstyle, and a hairdresser for that matter.
